RiseCam records your work as a time-lapse. The footage that comes out of that is yours, and this page sets out exactly what is kept, where it is kept, and what leaves your device.

Who we are
RiseCam is provided by BDHM LLP (ТОО «BDHM»), a limited liability partnership registered in the Republic of Kazakhstan under business identification number 260940032270, with its registered office at 30 I.P. Shukhov Street, Petropavlovsk 150000, North Kazakhstan Region, Kazakhstan.
BDHM LLP decides how the information described on this page is used and is responsible for it. "RiseCam", "we" and "us" on this page mean BDHM LLP.
Your footage stays on your device unless you choose to send it
The frames captured during a recording, and the time-lapse videos rendered from them, are written to your device's own storage. Exporting a video writes it to your photo library, which is also on your device.
RiseCam does not upload your footage in the background on its own, and does not send it to a third party. Frames leave your device in one way only, and only when you choose it: if you post a time-lapse, its frames are uploaded so your friends on RiseCam can see it. That happens only when you press Post, only for that recording, and only from a signed-in account.
Exported videos are never uploaded.
What we store on our servers
RiseCam keeps a small amount of information on its servers so your arc and your history survive a reinstall and can follow you to another device.
Account details
If you sign up, we store your email address and your display name. Signing in is done with email, with Google, or with Apple.
Guest accounts
You can use RiseCam with no sign-up at all. In that case a guest account is provisioned from a secret held on your device, and there is no email address or name behind it.
Your arc
The arc you set up: the name you give it, the date you started it, and the unit of progress if you set one. If you tell us why the arc matters to you, we store that too, along with the short daily lines written from it for your Focus screen.
Session metadata
For each recording session we store the start time, the end time, the number of frames captured, the capture interval, the number of units you completed, and the arc the session belongs to. The images themselves are never part of this.
Profile picture
If you set a profile picture, the image is stored against your account. You can remove it at any time from the Profile screen.
Posts
If you post a time-lapse, we store its frames together with your arc's name, your focus time, the capture interval, the number of frames and the date it was recorded. A post is shown to your friends on RiseCam straight away, with your display name and profile picture. We may review a post and remove it from your friends' view if it breaks our terms; a removed post stays visible to you.
You can delete a post at any time, which removes its frames from our storage.
Nothing is trained on your footage, posted or not.
Third-party services
Firebase (Google)
Firebase handles authentication for Google and Apple sign-in, and delivers push notifications. A push notification token is sent to RiseCam's server so we can reach your device with a notification you asked for.
Anthropic
When you start an arc, our server sends its name and, if you gave one, your reason for it to Anthropic's API, which writes the short daily lines shown on your Focus screen. Only that text is sent: no footage, no email address, no name and no account identifier. If you skip the question, only the arc's name is sent.
PostHog
PostHog provides optional product analytics. When analytics are enabled, it records in-app events: onboarding completed, a recording started or completed, an export, paywall interactions, and which sign-in method you used. Those events are identified by your backend user id together with your email, name, and plan. Automatic error reporting is enabled, so crashes and errors are reported to PostHog as well.
PostHog also counts page views on this website, but only if you allow it. Nothing is loaded, sent or stored until you choose "Allow" on the banner, and choosing "No thanks" keeps it that way. You can change your mind at any time with the "Analytics choice" link in the footer of any page. Website page views are not linked to any account, and visiting this site does not create a profile of you.
Device permissions we ask for
- Camera — to capture the frames that make up your time-lapse.
- Photo library (add only) — to save exported time-lapse videos to your photo library. RiseCam can add videos; it cannot read what is already there.
- Notifications — optional, for reminders.
Purchases
Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple. RiseCam never sees or stores your payment details or card numbers. The terms of a subscription are set out in the Terms of Use.
Where your data is stored
The information described above is held on servers operated via Heroku and AWS in the United States. Profile pictures and the frames of posts are held in object storage operated by Cloudflare.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account from the Profile screen in the app, or by emailing us at [email protected] from the address on the account.
Deleting your account removes your account details, your arc, all of your session metadata, your profile picture and your posts. The copies on your own device are unaffected: the frames in the app and the videos in your photo library stay on your phone until you delete them yourself.
Children's privacy
RiseCam is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us at [email protected] and we will delete the account and its data.
Changes to this policy
If our data practices change, we will update this page and change the date at the top of it. Significant changes will also be announced in the app.
